Pull

Click on picture to see pull.swf.

In fact i didn't have much time to draw. Or should i say i got stunned by this "Lost World". My mind went blank, totally lost. Is it the feeling i need to be when drawing or should the person who has seen my drawing feel lost as well. When i was flipping through my old works done on flash years ago, i saw this cartoon drawing i did on flash. I have already exported it to pull.exe if you don't have flash 8.

Who cares?!

Hi guys.. I'm Gao's friend. Honoured that he invited me to share my art on this blog.

Anyway, this is my submission for 28days later. I noe it's abit late that's y I didn't finish the background.. (^_^)"' This anthro character is an OC. He doesn't seem to care what happens 28days later and just wants to play with his shamisen and enjoy life with his pet, the two-tailed cat. A demonic appearance according to Japanese folklore...

[ 吉 ]
This theme of drawing is for the 28days later. At the first thought of this theme given last week, i was already thinking of drawing a dirty stuff. I want to show that after 28 days of continuous couple's bed activity, the man's feeling and the physical part of man's expression - "tired". Therefore, i had this saggy "pxxxx" illustration in my mind. However, when i drew it out in illustrator. The feel of this shape becomes a word. Strangely, i tot of drawing a head and two hands and legs spread wide apart like one of the works of Leonardo DaVinci. Suddenly, i drew it in the most simplest form. This word evolves to be something out of my expectation! A well wish of Chinese New Year in 28 days later! Well, wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Fiona Xie illustrator

[Fiona Illustrator]

This is done when i was thinking of someone. The "PS" concept was created in one of the ComputerArt Magazine issues. It was kinda of meaningless. But this is my first time doing "Bitmap Tracing" in illustrator. Hope it doesn't spoil your imageof Fiona Xie. Hehe.

evolution of insect

I have not been painting for yrs liao, so rusty. Took me abt 3hrs 30mins to finish this piece of work. Anyway, this is an image i have done when I'm so stress up.

This is done for the previous theme... i guess i'm abit late ^_^
It's theme is evolution of insect. A creature which has a body as tough as metal and neck that can stretch high. Its usual hideout is in the soil, before it moves out to the land, it will stretch its neck to lookout for enemies. It may look innocent but it's a very dangerous creature.

illustrator power

This is the few images i invented in illustrtor.

[Japan Ladies]

This took me 15min to finish. Basically a few strokes with caligraphy brush. Someone actually commented that "Art is non defined, there isn't any reason behind every piece of art." Is it true?

I was motivated to draw these ladies when i was experimenting with the caligraphy brush. Two strokes and the thing i could think of are the hairs of a japanese girl. "A few bamboos could be added in" Mig quoted.

[Hills and Trees]

This took me 2hr to finish. I wasn't really impress actually. So it proves that spending more time in defining an artistic work is like a chinese saying, "drawing legs on a snake". The idea was actually driven from a Brisbane spray paint artist. He basically used spray cans to paint and draw. I remember vividly how he create the waterfall; by adding many different colour layers of thick paint over a same area, and then using a crushed newspaper to scrub it downwards. WOW.

This "Hills and Trees" work represents a serene world of peace and harmony.

Evolution - Diamond

Okay, i'm sorta late for this...
This is an old drawing drawn in March 2006... Kinda lazy... =p

After many experiments, experiments that created and destroyed many lives... Only the strongest shall survive by evolving into a stronger kind. As beautiful as a diamond, she is able to create sharp and unbreakable blades using with her blood. Her wounds heals up immediately as she can never be cut. But tears shall fall as pain no longer exists and where death may never exist.

New theme

The latest theme is up, this time its "28 days later", dateline is 20th Feb. Now go DRAW.

ps:Im posting less now that I've started work, but expect to see an entry nonetheless

The Old man Thinking

Hi, I am fully excited about how this old man should look like. He stays there, thinking and thinking in time. Not realising that life has just pass away. He wouldn't bother. He lets time pass by, in a peaceful way.

"Life is so meaningless for now, it's the reason of living that ponders a man."

Art Fiends

"Kara kari", commonly known as Art Fiends, are undesirable creatures of an artist's table. Despite their fearsome appearance, they are mostly harmless, occasionally extracting creative juices though our index finger and thumb. How they are formed are generally disputed, one theory is that stagnant erasers are natural habitats and the waste from rubbing will evolves into a full grown "Kara kari" in less than 3 days. Its a common perception that cleaned up artwork has less art fiends, but it hasn't been justified.

This one is abit rush so pardon the rough and dirty sketch. Seldom do creature design, wanted to go realism but end up semi-realism.

Flaw of Bushido

Unfettered by Bushido, Shinobis have no law governing their use of stealth and assassination techniques. And none are the wiser for it.

This depicts a kunoichi returning after a successful mission, a practice in lighting and ambient, took me really long to get that pose down. Grunge brush , 4 hours in photoshop.

Enemy Sighted.

News of impending war seems like a joke two weeks ago. After all, we _are_ alone in this universe, right? Wrong. Now he finds himself leading a squad of troops, trawling through the ruins for survivors, hopelessly mired in this war.

Im randomly throwing out my thoughts/ideas onto canvas again, 2.5 hours, photoshop.

Make Awesome Now.

How did they make those movies look so damn good? How many times have you showed an digital painting/3d model/animation to a friend and they go "Oh thats cool. But the computer did it for you right?" Righttt. And the tooth fairy actually exists and is sitting in a warehouse full of teeth.

But I digress. Now we can finally show them how we do it. By clicking the incredible awesome button.

The abominable chicken

Another take on "Evolution" This time is a chicken/ abominable snowman caught on film, encased in a hunk of ice.

This time I tried painting the entire piece with a (default)grunge brush instead, and doubled the canvas resolution since the older pieces gave me problems when i zoomed too far in for details, 2 hours, photoshop.
