Just got my balrog at a lower-than-retail price. I'm a very fussy buyer, figures must have the X-factor the first time I lay my eyes on it. Frankly I was torn between this and sideshow weta's balrog, the latter definitely has quality hands down but we just do not hav tat chemistry. And its triple in price. To make a model out of balrog isn't easy, he is suppose to be on fire, glowing from within. Balrog's fire look like a chunk of cheesecake which he has to carry around and act macho about it, totally opaque and no self-illum fire. Thats when gentle giant's balrogs got the edge, lighting feature! For 2 AAA batt, its pretty much what I would have wanted... not perfect but its there. Reminds me of someone who might have told me, "Got light somemore, worth it!"
The box is quite huge, 70% styrofoam and sponges. A LOTR dvd(extended edition) is included to emphasize the scale.
